West Baton Rouge Council on Aging IS STILL CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.  You must call to schedule an appointment for the following services.  You will also be required to submit some demographic proof such as:  Picture ID, proof of income and residency, proof of members in household, social security numbers for everyone, etc.

West Baton Rouge Council on Aging will now be a BR Food Pantry site for our clients 60 and over.  You can click the link above to fill out your application or you can come pick up an application. 

You will need to provide the following:  picture ID, a utility bill (if you don't have a utility bill in your name you must fill out a self-declared residency form that we can provide) and your monthly income (if you do not wish to provide proof of income, you can fill out a self-declared income form, which we can provide as well).  Call us for any other questions or comments (225) 383-0638

SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SNAP) (FORMERLY THE FOOD STAMP PROGRAM)

Many of our community members at West Baton Rouge Council on Aging and Senior Centers require some degree of assistance with food sustainability.  We are here to connect you with resources other than our meals through our Home-Delivered meals (HDM).

MSP/LIS (MEDICARE SAVINGS PROGRAM/LOW-INCOME SUBSIDY)

To be eligible for Extra Help, you must: Be enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B. Live in one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia. Have a yearly income of $18, 735 or less (for individuals) or $25, 365 or less (for married couples living together). To be eligible for MSP you must have Medicare Part A and be at, or below, the income limits.

LIS is a federal program that helps pay for some to most of the out-of-pocket costs of Medicare prescription drug coverage and it's also called EXTRA HELP.

State of Louisiana's 
Emergency Rental Assistance Program 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued an order that may protect you from being evicted or removed from where you are living.   This means that you may be able to stay at the place where you live through October 3, 2021, if you qualify. 

See if you qualify for eviction protection under the CDC order. If you’d like help from an expert, contact the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) at (800) 569-4287 or go to  https://www.hudexchange.info/programs/housing-counseling/rental-eviction/  to get contact information for a local housing counselor.

Also provides assistance with past-due utilities and home energy costs, including electricity, gas, fuel oil, water and sewer, and trash removal

SENIORX PROGRAM

Connects qualified low-income people with discount prescription drugs, direct from the pharmaceutical manufacturers.  Please call us if you need assistance with your prescription needs at (225) 383-0638.
